CHIREC CONSISTS OF SIX HOSPITALS IN BRUSSELS AND WALLOON BRABANT. CONSISTING OF THE CLINICS EDITH CAVELL, PARC LÉOPOLD, BASILIQUE, ST-ANNE ST-REMI, EUROPE LAMBERMONT AND BRAINE-L’ALLEUD-WATERLOO, IT IS THE BIGGEST HOSPITAL GROUP IN BELGIUM. CHIREC HAS THE AMBITION TO BECOME ONE OF THE WORLDS FIRST « PAPERLESS » HOSPITAL GROUPS BEFORE 2016.
In order to support Chirec in this transition to a « paperless » workplace, the patient files of different departments of the hospitals Braine-l’Alleud, Parc Leopold, Europe Lambermont and Edith Cavell had to be prepared for filing and scanning.
The Soccha solution
Soccha put together a team of ten long-term unemployed Belgians, in order to prepare the documents for scanning and filing. Each file was issued an individual QR code allowing for an automated indexing during the scanning process.
With over 200.000 patient files scanned, Chirec is on track to create a completely « paperless » workplace. Additionally, the project has allowed ten unemployed Belgians to find work for a long period of time and forty underprivileged people in Madagascar to receive free IT training.
